Unfinished Business: The Sequel
Had an idea for a motivational motto for the Huskers next year.
For those of you who remember, "Unfinished Business" was the battle cry for the 1994 Huskers after they lost the National Championship to Florida State in the Orange Bowl.
To emphasize that point, the players had the scoreboard operator put "1:16" on the Memorial Stadium clock during summer conditioning. 1:16 was left in the 4th Quarter when Byron Bennett kicked the field goal to put the Huskers in the lead.....only to have the Seminoles drive down and kick what would end up being the winning field goal.
I sensed a similar pattern with the "egregious error" at the Big XII Championship when Texas took Nebraska's chance at a BCS game from them.
With that in mind, here's my idea for a motto for the 2010 season: NO 00:01 CHANCES!!! For those of you who need a translation--that's "no second chances" (double meaning intended).
Just to remind themselves, the players, just like in 1994, could put "00:01" on the scoreboard clock during summer conditioning. After all, they have UNFINISHED BUSINESS...
Any thoughts?

Thought about that
I had thought about those parallels too… I’d sure be motivated. Luckily, redemption comes a little early next year – October 16.
i'm thinking
that would be a damned good idea for a t-shirt for next season…..
nice creativity, man!

Thanks For The Compliment
But my head’s fat enough as it is. I laid that “No 00:01 Chances” line on a guy at work (Texas fan, of course). He had two words for me; the second word was “off” and the first word was…..well, you get the idea.
