Corn Flakes Wants a New Arena

Well basketball is underway, though I did find some football links still hanging around.

A&M's late run brings down Husker men

Standhardinger drew rave reviews on press row. Television commentator Reid Gettys, during a commercial timeout, pounded his index finger next to Standhardinger’s name on his scorecard, exclaiming, "This kid’s a stud, this kid’s a stud!"

Standhardinger made a three-pointer that gave the Huskers a 42-40 lead midway through the second half, and made a free throw for a 43-42 lead with 9:09 remaining. That’s when coach Doc Sadler’s biggest fear about his young team playing a road conference game came to fruition. Over the next 51/2 minutes, Texas A&M (12-3, 1-0) used a 14-2 run to fire up the Reed Arena crowd of 9,628 and take control.

Is there hope for the basketball team? I'm thinking they could compete for the middle of the B12 after Texas, KU, and KSU.

Steven M. Sipple: Lincoln needs to go forward with Haymarket arena

So you don't want to play basketball next to some hog and sheep barns? NU has to do this if they want to be a player in B12 basketball. I'm not saying that they will become one, but they won't if they don't build.

Think KU will be fired up for this game?

Three recruits enroll and become Huskers

Am I the only one that thinks kids should stay in school till their regular graduation? I just think they are missing a lot, plus I worry how they will handle the culture shock of going from high school to college. Anyway I'm glad they are on the team, welcome and good luck.

Scout.com: Who's Hot (coming off the bowl season)?

3. The Nebraska D In a historical Holiday Bowl rout, the Blackshirts whitewashed Arizona for the school’s first-ever postseason shutout. A throwback type effort that was sparked by the relentless up front push of Ndamukong Suh, Jared Crick, and Pierre Allen, Nebraska yielded just six first downs and 109 yards, rarely even allowing the Wildcats to get beyond midfield.

NU's hot, but who's not...

10. Missouri While there’s no shame in losing to a service academy, Mizzou got thoroughly abused by Navy in the Texas Bowl, 35-13. It’s one thing to allow a ton of yards to the triple-option, but QB Blaine Gabbert and the Tiger offense didn’t do their part, producing no touchdowns over the final 59 minutes and yielding four sacks.

7. Nebraska BUZZ: Coach Bo Pelini has said he thinks the 2010 team will be better than the 2009 team. Given the state of the Big 12 next season, that means the Huskers easily could go into the season as the league favorite.

Expectations building....

Refresh my memory

Did anything ever come of the university buying state fair park to turn it into a research park? If they were going to do that, wouldn’t that fix the problem of the Devaney being out on the farm?

Still, though, I hope Lincoln builds the new arena. Maybe it could house the 2010 womens Big 12 conference trophy…

Maybe they

could play volleyball there also. Just a thought. The basketball program needs something anything to get it going. Sadler has done well but a shot in the arm from the UN would help.

I doubt

the women’s volleyball team will ever move from the Coliseum.

Although…. there is sand volleyball starting soon, and they’re probably free to do what they want.
