CBS Sports Blog Poll Top 25 Ballot #4 - Feedback Required

How does he keep losing to unranked opponents? Apparently Pete Carroll doesn't know either.

How does he keep losing to unranked opponents? Apparently Pete Carroll doesn't know either.

After the jump is this week's draft ballot for the CBS Sports Blog Poll Top 25. Per usual, looking for fan feedback on my ballot.

Notes:

- Miami makes a huge jump because at this point they've put together a decent resume. Wins over Florida State and Georgia Tech is as impressive as anything done so far this season.

- Nebraska only drops three spots are losing on the road to a highly-ranked team by one point. Homerific or fair?

- I dropped BYU for their loss at home to Florida State. That's probably not fair, but if I bring them in, who should they replace?

- Washington enters the poll, for a big win over USC. Do they deserve it?

- LSU's win over Washington now looks a lot better than it did before.... Ninth, though?

I don’t know if I would have dropped byu out of the poll losing to fsu or have Miami as high as you did. I like that mizzou is where there at so if we do beat them we can get that horrible streak over with. A team that nobody and I mean nobody is talking about is kansas. They are winning and flying wayyyy under the radar.

Kansas

Has played absolutely nobody, though. They look good, but you gotta wait for at least a decent win before sending them up the polls.

good list as always.

I like Miami @ about 8 or 9 and everyone then moved up the ladder. They are outperforming my expectations and have an incredibly hard schedule so I can see them moving up further, but still…8 or 9 would give ‘em room to move.
Southern Cal maybe should be one spot ahead of Ohio state since they beat ’em head to head…I know that’s not really how that usually ends up working in the polls, but SC seems to always have a gaffe like the Washington game (nothing against the insane instant improvement that seems to be going on up there @ UW which is IMPRESSIVE) and Ohio State hasn’t done anything to make me think they’re better than SC (though I think they certainly could have beaten SC).
And I think you’re right to keep NU at 20 or inside the 20…it was a close, hard fought game and to my mind, nothing about our performance smacked of necessitating a lower ranking. I think being dropped to 24 or 25 is ridiculous following a last minute 1 point loss to a higher ranked team.

Kudos for moving Miami

Aside from Herbstriet I guess, most “real” voters don’t have the balls to reassess their preseason rankings so drastically, not this early.

I’m not sold on Ole Miss as a top five team yet. I watched them struggle against average-at-best Memphis, and I think they yet to prove themselves. They have the talent to do so, although Greg Hardy, their best defender, is banged up.

What’s the rationale for putting Okie State ahead of Houston. Don’t necessarily disagree, but I’m interested in your take.

Also yeah, too harsh on BYU.

rational

on Oklahoma State over Houston….. hmmmmmmm. Not a good one, there’s too much traditionalist in me.

In fact, I’ll do an article on that soon… what it’s really like to do a poll.

I did one years ago on America Online – back when they charged by the hour, along with CompuServe. Gee, that makes me old, doesn’t it?

okay

I moved BYU back in, dropping Pitt. I moved Ohio State below USC.

Maybe I’ll just post the final.
