NCAA president Myles Brand dies from pancreatic cancer - ESPN
NCAA President Dr. Myles Brand passed away earlier today, losing his fight against pancreatic cancer. He was 67.
It's pretty easy for college sports fans to use the NCAA as a target, but Brand did quite a bit to move the organization forward. Brand was a NCAA leader who provided a human side to the organization, doing podcasts and starting the blog Double-A Zone.
Brand pushed for academic accountability - establishing the APR and Graduation Success Rates - which helped put the spotlight on the "student" in student-athlete.
Please keep his family in your prayers.
