Some Info Needed
First of all, a little about me: I was born in Minnesota and grew up watching the Vikings play and I'm still a Viking fan to this day.
In the summer of 1976, when I was eleven years old, my Dad moved our whole family to central Nebraska so he would be closer to his work. That fall I discovered college football. I didn't know college football even existed up until that point. I, as well as the rest of the family, soon became typical Nebraska fans. We moved from Nebraska in '82 but we took the Huskers with us and despite living in seven different states since, we've remained faithful Huskers fans to this day.
I've been to one Red-White game, back in '77 (Remember I.M. Hipp? We mobbed him at midfield after the game. I was one of the first to get there!) and I saw the Huskers play Auburn in '81.
My sister, who has also stayed faithful to the Huskers, married a man last October, who also happens to be a lifelong Huskers fan despite being born and raised in southeast Kansas. His Mom was from Hastings originally though, so that helps to explain things a bit as she was also a huge Huskers fan.
Since they've gotten married, they've had a run of just awful luck. Back in March, their house burnt up in a fire. They got some possessions out, but several family heirlooms from both sides of the family were lost. Then in June, his Mom was found in her house unconscious. She was in a coma for several days and passed away on June 13th.
Neither of them has been to a Nebraska game, so for their wedding last year, I was going to get them tickets, but couldn't afford them. About a month back, I started thinking about what a crappy first year of marriage they've had so far, thought about the Huskers tickets thing again, and decided to put some money away to get them tickets. I got them two tickets to the Sept. 26th game against Louisiana-Lafayette. I'm going to surprise him (I had to include my sister in on this because I had to find out his work schedule, as it's a kind of a funky schedule!) today with the news.
Sorry for the long story but I wanted to go into why I'm doing what I'm doing.
Here are my questions: The tickets are section 3, row 47. I've looked at a Memorial Stadium diagram and know about where they will be, but are the seats pretty decent? Also, what about parking, places to stay, etc. Any kind of help will be greatly appreciated.

East Stadium, around 10 yard line
I think those tickets probably are fairly decent, though I’m not a ticketholder in that area. My guess is that they’re about the 10 yard line. In the east and west stadiums, it’s better to be higher than lower as the pitch of the stadium is such that it’s sometimes hard to look out over people standing on the sideline.
Hopefully someone who has sat on the east side regularly around section 3 can fill us in.

parking and staying
Uff da…. I don’t get back for many home games, but I’ll be back for the first one this season. I have family in Lincoln, so I don’t ever have to deal with hotels – they might find pretty sparse pickings on those.
Parking – whenever I go, I usually park in the same parking ramp in the Haymarket area, I think it’s right across the street from Barry’s. Obviously on game day you’ll have to get there darned early to get anything that close.
Need more people to chime in here……

LMAO @ Uff da!
Don’t hear that much around here!
My sister and I told my Brother in law the news last night. He was pretty thrilled!
His Aunt (His Mom’s sister) had called shortly after we told him, and she told him a story about her and his Mom driving down through Oklahoma years ago on a day when Nebraska and Oklahoma were playing in Norman.
There were quite a few vehicles on the road with Sooners stuff on them. Well, his Mom happened to have a pair of Cornhusker socks on, so her answer to them was to take her shoes off and dangle her feet out of the window at them!
Later they had stopped at a convenience store, and as they were leaving, his Mom stopped and yelled “GO HUSKERS!!!” Priceless!
Her passing was quite unexpected. I would imagine she’ll be with them at that game, and I’ll bet she has a heaven made pair of Husker socks on too!

Let Me Try To Light Your Way
I’m a season ticket holder, so I’ll try to light your way the best I can. East Stadium, Sec. 3 Row 47? Hmmm…. the only downer is that they’ll be under the balcony, so they might lose some of the ambiance. There are TV’s mounted underneath the balcony in case you miss something.
As far as the parking, there are two routes to try. If your sister and brother in law want to try parking downtown, it’s do-able, but the key is GET THERE EARLY! There are people always holding “parking” signs for anywhere from $5 to $20. If they don’t want to mess around with that, the city has shuttle buses that run from several locations around town. They start busing people to the stadium 2 hours before kickoff. For more info on that, you can try calling/e-mailing the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, The Lincoln Journal-Star, or the UNL Athletic Dept. I’m sure somebody will help you out.
As far as places to stay, they’ve built a ton of motels in Lincoln the last 10-12 years but I can’t make any promises. You’ll have to check online for room availability. If you want to check for motels in one of the towns near Lincoln, try Crete or Beatrice, where I live.
Keep us posted on how the search goes. Tell your sister and brother-in-law I’ll see them at the game. I’ll be one wearing red.

Thanks For The Info!
I’ll have them look for you! LOL!
Beatrice is one of the places I actually was thinking about when I was checking into things the other day. It’s what, about 40 miles south of Lincoln? I know they said they probably won’t want to try to drive all the way back after the game, but that wouldn’t be a bad drive.
I appreciate the help!

Beatrice Motel Best Bets
Holiday Inn Express
New Victorian Inn
Econo Lodge (recently remodeled)
Victorian Inn
The first three are right on the north edge of town on Highway 77, so it’s a straight on shot into Lincoln. The fourth (Victorian Inn) is a couple of miles further south. Good Luck.

Don't know.
I haven’t talked to my sister much and don’t know if they’ve done much of anything as far as rooms. I will see them tomorrow night at my nephews football game and will find out more then.
