Most defensive coaches are content if their tackles merely clog up running lanes and allow linebackers to make plays. Suh is an exception. He made 76 stops last season to become the first defensive lineman since 1973 to lead the Huskers in tackles. Suh also had 19 tackles for loss – the eighth-highest total in school history – and 7.5 sacks. Suh is more athletic than the typical 300-pounder. In fact, he returned two interceptions for touchdowns last season.

3. Nebraska The line looked the part going into last season with size, résumés, and athleticism, but it hadn't produced as well as it should've. It came through big-time against the mediocre teams, and now it has to be better against the elite. Thanks to Ndamukong Suh, Barry Turner and Pierre Allen, there should be plenty of plays behind the line while it should lead the way for the best run defense in the North.

The Nebraska volleyball team was tabbed for second in the Big 12coache's preseason volleyball poll released Thursday afternoon. The Huskers, who went 31-3 and shared the Big 12 title with Texas last year, received 93 points, including three first-place votes by the league coaches.
