Corn Nation's Husker Signing Day Thread
Signing Day is finally here!! For myself, and recruiting junkies like me, signing day can be like a second Christmas.
Check back here often as we update you on all the commits that sign on the dotted line and officially become Huskers.
There isn't a whole lot of drama expected today for Nebraska, most of the kids who commit are expected to sign, and there aren't many names out there from other schools who are expected to change their mind at the last minute.
However, as Husker fans know too well, the most drama occurs when the least is expected...Stay Tuned!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The first big recruiting story of the day is that Myles Wade, a defensive tackle that is rated as a four star recruit by Rivals will not sign with anyone today. Why is that good news for Husker fans? Because he was slated to sign with Texas Tech. Wade has delayed his signing until next Monday so that he can come visit NU.
Four star defensive end Jason Ankrah has signed his LOI
Offensive Lineman Nick Ash has signed
Four star running back Rex Burkhead is officially a Husker
Offensive lineman Jesse Coffey has signed his LOI
Three star DB Dejon Gomes is a Husker
Defensive back Andrew Green has faxed his LOI
The star of this recruiting class, quarterback Cody Green has signed his letter of intent
WR Brandon Kinnie has turned in his LOI
DT Cole Pensick is a Husker
Offensive lineman Brent Qvale is a Cornhusker officially
Defensive tackle Thaddeus Randle has signed an LOI
Runningback Dontrayeveous Robinson is now officially a Husker
OL Jeremiah Sirles has signed his LOI
Four star linebacker Chris Williams is a Cornhusker
Runningback C.J. Zimmerer has faxed his LOI
Eric Martin has signed his LOI, I was a bit worried that we might see a signing day switch from him, so this is a relief
Three star tight end J.T. Kerr is sending in his LOI now.
Lazari Middleton has signed with the Huskers
Cornerback Dijon Washington has signed with Nebraska
All purpose Athlete Taylor Martinez has signed his LOI
This means that all players that were truly expected to sign did. That appears to be a rare occurrence when you look around the country at some other high profile schools who lost kids at the last minute

this year
seems to be an anti-climactic year for Husker recruiting, doesn’t it?
Other than the Bodtmann thing, and the late addition of Eric Martin, has there been any hijinx?

Myles Wade
could count as hijinx, other than that, no

Now that the flow of LOIs has slowed
I can update everyone about a couple of other things.
Deandre Byrd is not going to make it to Nebraska this season. The defensive back had some grade issues and will need to go the JUCO route.
There are now just 3 recruits who are expected to sign who haven’t: Athlete Taylor Martinez, and defensive backs Lazari Middleton and Dijon Washington.
All three players are on the west coast, where it is still just 7:45 AM, so there isn’t need to panic just yet

How bad are the grades
when you know in Feb that you won’t be able to make it to NU?

Pretty freaking bad
Don’t know the actual numbers (privacy laws) but as you said, if you know in February that you won’t be able to qualify at a school that isn’t exactly ivy league, you’re in trouble

Aaaaand the only possibility for drama is over
It turns out Myles Wade in fact DID sign with Tech

Taylor Martinez
is the lone holdout from the kids we thought would sign with Nebraska today

It would be a huge get but......
I wouldn’t put a whole lot of stock into the rumors. I think he’ll be a Bull by the end of the day

Come on I want some drama
And NU is due for a signing day switch-a-roo in their favor for once.

How about negative drama
Apparently all the kids at Martinez’s school who signed D-1 LOIs had a signing ceremony. Still no word from Martinez on whether he sent his in.
Not a good sign

And we are done
So no good or bad surprises. Rumors about Byrd have been out for a while.
Nice to keep a class together for once. A not of last minute changes out there for other big name schools.

Jason Pierre-Paul,
a 6-foot-6, 265-pound defensive end from Fort Scott (Kan.) Community College, may be in the picture for Nebraska, according to Scout.com.
Pierre-Paul, ranked sixth among all junior college players by Rivals.com, was set to sign with South Florida but hasn’t done so.

Couple of Non-Nebraska Commitment stories
4 star defensive back Terry Hawthorne signed with the University of Illinois over Oklahoma.
and 4 star Juco safety David Batts spurned Kansas State and ended up signing with Washington. Apparently Sarkisian’s recruiting violations have paid off :)

Bad hit to KSU
Not a lot of talent coming in or at KSU right now.

I've got positional breakdowns of the Kansas class...
you all are more than welcome to check out..
Things turned out pretty good for us as a whole. Like you guys we dodged any last minute switches, actually picked up our best player last minute in Bradley McDougald who was previously committed to Ohio State.
Finished up 5th in the north by rivals rankings just a couple spots behind you all. Most importantly we addressed our key areas of need and often times that’s the biggest thing with this whole recruiting business.

TEASER ALERT! :)
I’m going to put together a recap of all the Big 12’s recruiting classes tomorrow once the dust has settled but I know that Colorado was having some problems getting a few of their higher caliber players to sign, and Kansas State doesn’t have any 4 or 5 star players at the present time.

Kansas State...
is slowly becoming more and more irrelevant…we’ll see if the old man can right the ship, but I have my doubts.
