Mike Leach Fired

Yikes. Minimal details so far, but instead of getting to proceed with the hearing to allow Leach to coach the Alamo Bowl, the TT lawyers dropped the bomb on Leach.

The good folks at DoubleTNation might need a few beers. :/

Mike Leach, according to his attorney Ted Liggett, has been fired by Texas Tech.

Liggett made the announcement outside a Lubbock courthouse today following his meeting with Judge Bill Sowder and Texas Tech officials in Sowder’s chambers.

The firing comes one day before Leach was to receive an $800,000 "completion bonus" from Texas Tech.

Fox 34 reports:
Before the hearing this morning, Mike Leach’s personal attorney, Ted Liggett, received a letter from Texas Tech signed by President Guy Bailey terminating Leach’s employment.

According to the letter, Leach is in violation of Article Four of his contract. That’s the performance clause, which deals with the health and welfare of players.

ESPN’s Joe Schad reports that Liggett will contest the bonus payment on Leach’s behalf.

I wonder how many of these we’ll see in the next two years.

I'm getting tired of the hate on the James kid.

The James’ complaint was nothing more than a vehicle for TT’s administration to carry out what it’s wanted to do all along, fire Mike Leach. I feel bad for RedRaider nation, their fans deserve better from their university.

Although, there is now another offensive genius looking for a job (I’m looking at you, Bo Pelini.)

As I have said the past few days

though much more direct now . . . this is bullshit!!!! I have never seen a railroad job like this and I am sick and tired of this crap! Leach was crazy and tough. I have read a lot of the stuff posted from Lubbock and nothing will convince me that the James kid is a pansy ass. Parents are sticking their noses into all levels of sports to the point where if the little Adams of the world don’t get their way, they throw a pout and then come up with the bullshit that came spewing out at Tech. The AD down there is a joke and so is the President! I feel for the Tech fans. Pay attention because those are crazy SOB’s under normal circumstances. I bet ESPN keeps the cameras off the Tech crowd the whole night at the Alamo. The Captain deserved better than this!
