Nebraska Cornhuskers vs Colorado Buffaloes Post Game And National Games Thread - Do We Have A Chance Against Texas?

And here we are. Nebraska wins a relatively ugly game against Colorado. Last play of the game ends up being a Buffie touchdown, and Bo Pelini go nuts because the defense let's that happen.

It's time to talk about Texas.Who are we? Can we beat Texas? Can something wild happen tonight????? What's it all mean????

I am not hopeful after today’s performance. We will absolutely need to be clicking on all aspects of our game. Offense, defense and special teams.

do you really

think that we were playing 100% today? I have a feeling that even though Bo said we have to worry about CU frist, they were pacing themselves

Absolutely don’t think we were at 100%. I’m worried we won’t play 100% at Texas. I hope you’re right too.

by davereid on Nov 27, 2009 6:11 PM CST up reply actions

That argument would hold water if the offense looked any worse than it has all season

it didn’t. It looked the exact same. Inept, bereft of any playmakers beyond Helu, and out of sync all day long. We have zero shot of winning against Texas and anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional.

I guess I'm just a worrier, that's why my friends call me whiskers

Great defense and great special teams keeps you in any ballgame
The Pelini’s have been scheming this one for a while.

Maybe it’s all part of the Pelini Plan to lure Texas in a false sense of security by sucking it up a little today. Give ’em 200% next Saturday!

by davereid on Nov 27, 2009 6:11 PM CST reply actions

Ugly, ugly, ugly...

Not so much the Huskers. Just the whole game in general.

Moron commentary: There is a reason a common practice around the country is to turn on local radio while watching the television on mute. It’s bad enough ABC is the WORST network to watch a game on visually, with their muted crowd noise and atmospheric camera angles. The 2 dipwads calling the game routinely called NU the Buffaloes and vice versa….couldn’t get opinions on close calls correct…called for an ejection on Asante (a penalty..yes, but ejection!??) …Called Kunalic “Henery” on kickoffs, don’t think they ever caught on that we have 2 kickers….I hate ABC.

As far as gameplay goes. Mediocre at best. I would be chewing asses if I were Bo. Missed tackles, horrible blocking, penalties,…. they just seemed pedestrian at times. Didn’t have any energy after the Paul return TD.

Suh was double teamed over half of the plays, which made for some boring defensive pursuit…and even he dropped a sure interception.

Rex Burkhead looked like a beast, and played better than Helu. He might be our X-Factor in the game against Texas. 2 non-offense TD’s bailing out our offense. I don’t think we can count on that again when playing the horns.

Hopefully the “Pelini Plan” mentioned above is a real deal. I’d hate to think this is the best we’ve got!

to be sure…..

but Texas’ defense is pretty darned good

Their offense doesn’t scare me so much, but i"m sure this week we’re going to hear about the greatness that is them.

We have a chance (maybe?)

I think we have a valid shot against Texas, purely because I think this team has what doctors call USC-itis, where we play up and down to competition (See Iowa state, and Oklahoma) Plus I have seen Nebraska teams with no business hanging around a Texas team circa 2007. the bottom line is I think that texas is coming in thinking BCS, and we just want to beat Texas.
BTW was it the cameras, or did the Colorado cheerleaders have a mas case of the uglies?

We have more than a chance

but today’s performance didn’t give me a warm fuzzy. The offense seemed to be going through the motions and the D got an early lead and lost their fire.

I do expect a completely different team next week in Dallas.

In all of our 9 win seasons how this years margin of victory compares to other years. Gotta be the lowest margin of victory ever for a 9 win Husker team.

Ok, CU’s offense is garbage. After rewatching the game in it’s entirety and adding it up, there were 74 holding penalties against CU that weren’t called, more importantly 18 were blatant (arm across the neck and fistful of jersey) holds. I have a hard time believing CU (the worst o-line in the Big XII) had that good of a game against arguably the best front four in college football.

Next weekend will be interesting…

GBR!!!

absolutely!

…there was one play in particular that I saw. Suh getting his face ripped upwards by the poser trying to block him. No call.

..and what did Suh do? Nothing…no complaining or any of that. It’s like he just expects that people will cheat to stop him. What a guy!!!!

by Mr. Corn on Nov 27, 2009 10:30 PM CST up reply actions

Suh

wa held the whole game. Once to the facemask…to which he just shrugged it off. It’s like officials feel sorry for whoever he faces, and they either call him for a penalty of look the other way. Hansen should have been on his back more often than those CU cheerleaders…and that’s a LOT!

by Mr. Corn on Nov 27, 2009 10:33 PM CST up reply actions

JLew's Thoughts

Much has and will be made about the lack of offensive yards. but with 1 TD after a punt and an INT TD that’s 2 drives with no yards. But points.
The sacks were a problem, need to figure out the corner back blitz.

Bo needs to go to the officials before the Texas game and ask about holding. Will it be called? cause if not have our O-Line do the same thing. That was horrible officiating. Evidently it’s not ok to cover a WR with a LB, but take downs of our D-Line are just fine and dandy.

NU looked to be sleep walking through the game. But lets not forget that this was a very short week for prep. Also CU has played well at home this year, for whatever reason.

To beat Texas NU will have to play their best game. At least they didn’t waste their best game on CU.

You can't possibly be a scientist if you mind people thinking that you're a fool.

My take on NU/CU

NU comes into the game knowing they are playing next week in the Big XII championship game and the CU is 3-8. Now Bo and the players can say all they want about not looking past anyone and getting ready to play but we have to be relistic also.

How fired up were they really? I mean look at the Niles Paul punt return for the TD. Was there a big celebration afterwards? NO. Let that happen next week against Texas and I will bet that NU will be close to getting a flag for excessive celebration. They will be ALOT more fired up then they were yesterday.

CU comes in knowing they are not going to a bowl game, knowing that after this game their season is over and the seniors want to go out beating NU. They are way more fired up and ready to play this game and they play pretty well for the most part.

I think you will see a whole different NU team come next saturday. I pesonally am hoping to see the same defensive team we saw against OU and the offense we had against ISU minus the turnovers.
