CBS Sports Blog Poll Week 9 - Notre Dame Sneaks In?

Ah, I get it. Rocky Flop. That's pretty funny, that's what that is.

Ah, I get it. Rocky Flop. That's pretty funny, that's what that is.

- There'll be no arguing about this week about whether or not Nebraska deserves to be ranked.

- I still have Florida #1 because they have yet to lose.

- Texas looked excellent against Missouri, but they always look good against Missouri, don't they?

- Does Iowa deserve to be higher than Boise State or maybe even USC? They win ugly but they continue to find ways to win (as opposed to another program I know that found an incredibly creative way to lose Saturday).

- Could you give me someone else to rank at #25 besides Notre Dame? Because I know how this works. They'll win a bunch of games against cruddy opponents, then at the end of the season magically end up in a BCS bowl because the media loves to have them in the conversation. So.... should they be ranked? What about Arizona?

Notre Dame, Notre Dame, Notre Dame...

25, 25, 25…

What about Central Michigan?

They’re 7-1, their only loss was 19-6 in the first game of the year to a now 5-2 Arizona AND they also beat Michigan State.

IN FACT, they beat ‘em the week before Notre Dame, thereby softening the Spartans up for ND and makin’ ND look better…they should totally get the assist for that ND win, and a week in that #25 slot in place of ND would be the perfect way to show appreciation for that assist.

It’s the right thing to do…the Chippewas at #25.

I have my own ballot, but something to think about:

A Triple Digit Strength of Schedule and only 1 win against a likely bowl team (Michigan State). They haven’t even played the “good” teams in the MAC like Temple and Ohio this year.

Notre Dame has a top 30-40 SOS, and multiple wins over bowl teams.

I think the two biggest issues with the ballot are how high BYU and Utah are (the fact that BYU is even ranked), and how low Arizona is, but again, I’ve got my own ballot, so don’t change based on me. I just love talking about these things, as I’ve started spending more time trying to come up with a methodology, but get 0 to none discussion on my site.
