Marlon Lucky: Shrine Game MVP
Marlon Lucky put on quite a performance today at the East-West Shrine Game in Houston. The Houston Chronicle and nfldraftbible.com named Lucky the game's MVP. 7 carries for 68 yards and a touchdown, including a nifty 47 yard run to set up another touchdown.
Lucky apparently recovered quite nicely from that turf toe that bothered him much of the rest of the season.
Not a lot of other performances to speak of in an otherwise game dominated by defense. Missouri's Chase Daniel went 2 for 9 passing for one yard.

Cool
for Lucky.
I wonder if this translates into anything positive for the NFL draft.
I guess if nothing else, it can’t be a negative!

Agreed
The guy had that nagging turf toe so it is nice to see him get some action. The last few games for him just were not good opportunities for him to show his skills. I think his pass catching ability will land him a job in the NFL. They are always looking for a 2nd and 3rd down back that can do both run and catch.

Good Luck
Marlon and thanks for everything…… He will land somewhere in the pros, he has too much god given talent not to.

Does Lucky remind anybody else of Brian Westbrook?

Absolutely! For all 4 years, it seemed like both coaching staffs were hell-bent on making him a “between-the-tackles” kind of guy. A poor man’s Brian Westbrook seems like the perfect comparison to me… he’s better than your usual 3rd down back, but not quite an everydown back. Maybe comparisons to Correll Buckhalter in the NFL?
Regardless, his hands for a running back will get him an opportunity somewhere….
Cheers,
Matt
