VA TECH PRE-GAME PRESS FROM VIRGINIA

I have been living out here in "HOKIE/CAVALIER" Country for many years and I can tell you I am REALLY looking forward to this week-ends' game with Virginia Tech.  In the event anyone is interested, I can post the links to articles from our local paper out here in the Norfolk, Virginia area for this week-end's game.  There could be some interesting little things come out.  Here's the first one:

From the Roanoke Times - September 21st

Tyrod Taylor was handed a red-shirt this year by VA Tech Head Coach Frank Beamer; he was a bit rough and erratic and Beamer wanted to give him more time to learn the system. That put fifth year senior Sean Glennon in charge of the offense. If anyone saw how poorly Glennon played against East Carolina, then taking the red shirt off of Taylor was Beamer’s only option. Taylor however, rolled an ankle against UNC this past weekend and Glennon finished up. If it’s my choice, I’d rather the Blackshirts “Tee off” on Glennon than try to chase down Taylor.

agreed

still, could Glennon roll into Lincoln and have a good game? If Tyrod can’t run worth a darn can he at least throw?

I’m not sure about either…. VT doesn’t have a good offense this season, yet they’ve beat both Georgia Tech and North Carolina.

Man…. there’ still so much we don’t really know about the Huskers, isn’t there?

In Today's Virginian-Pilot...

Today’s Virginian-Pilot (newspaper for the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area) has an article today talking about the need for the VA Tech to find a way to improve on their 99 yards/game passing attack. The article addresses that Tech has only had three passes of longer than 20 yards this year and how that will have to improve as they (Tech) will be looking at 8 and 9 man defensive fronts that are holding running backs to 2.6 yards a carry. It ws the only time in all my years here that I have listened to the Hokie call-in show but Monday night, Frank Beamer addressed the fact that his players are going to have to be ready to face “big” “strong” “physical” “quick” players at Nebraska that are going to hurt you.

Also, another hot topic for Hokie fans has been fan respect. Apparently they ran into some problems with UNC supporters in Chapel Hill and they were all complaining about classless and abusive fans. I’m pretty sure they won’t have to say anything bad about our fans.

The URL for the article is:

From the Daily Press...

another local paper from this area. This article (Link below) discusses the Hokies desire to make their “Pony” option attack work better for them (utilizing Tyrod Taylor as QB with two legitimate tailbacks behind him).

Just another article for you all from your friendly Omaha-transplant.
