Today's TV Schedule - Watchya Watching?
I'm opening this up early to allow comments on early games. There are a bunch of compelling games, starting with last night's South Florida - Kansas tilt. What a game - I do not think I'll be dropping KU much even though they lost. USF's DE Selvie was just phenomenal in that game, unblockable and a game changing performance.
Iowa State versus Iowa - on the Big Ten Network. SB Nation features Black Heart, Gold Pants for Iowa fans, and Clone Chronicles for Iowa State fans.
Nevada at Mizzou - more interesting than first glance because it will show us whether or not the Tiger defense can stop anyone.
I'll be watching Notre Dame vs Michigan if for no other reason than to watch Jimmy Clausen suck it.
Georgia Tech vs Virginia Tech will tell us how much of a fight the Hokies are going to put up in our next game.
Then there's Oklahoma at Washington. Oklahoma should clobber them but I haven't had the chance to see the Sooners yet this season. Are they worthy of a top five ranking?
I'm going to be sick of hearing about Beanie Wells and the USC - Ohio State match up by the time the game ends. They're really pumping this one to the point that if the Buckeyes get destroyed it will REALLY damage their credibility in big games.
That's most of my line up for the day, including some flipping around.

one thing that should give us hope against Mizzou it’s that they are not that good at stopping the run. that’s why it’s vitally important that we establish a strong running game, physical line play.

offense is looking much better this season.
their QB Arnaud will have good experience by the time we play them, and they’ll be very dangerous in Ames. If you wrote that up as a sure win, change it.

left in Iowa – Iowa State game. ISU has played well, but every time in the red zone they’ve come apart. not on the field, but the coaching staff… not getting the play in with enough time.
so on 3rd and goal, they run a dive (see it coming), then on 4th and goal they run….. guess what play!??? The fade into the corner? YES! Gasp, that’s sneaky!

Missouri
is just an explosion. They keep talking about how to beat Missouri’s offense, stop them from scoring.
They’re going to get their points. I mentioned ball control offense earlier, but you have to execute, with no turnovers and no penalties. Consistently drive 5 yards, pick up 4 yards a carry, work the clock.
On defense, keep everything in front of you, limit big plays. If you’re playing zone, it’s going to be more important to have good tacklers on the field than great cover guys, and you’re going to have to hit Chase Daniel. The front four is going to be key for us because our back seven is going to be suspect.

In fact
the PAC-10 is sucking eggs today:
- Cal loses to Maryland
- UCLA is down 42-0 to BYU at half
- Oregon losing to Purdue 20-6 at the half
- Washington State got clobbered last night by Baylor 45-17
- Stanford lost to TCU 31-14.
Charlie Weis got hit on the sideline, his leg got rolled pretty badly. Motorized wheel chair for him for a while, I bet.

New Mexico State isn't bad, and Chase Holbrook is one of the better QBs...
Surprising, yet not. Huskers always have more PPV games than anyone else. I think it may have to do with Omaha being larger than Lincoln, and Omahans are always willing to go to the bar. Hell, I got texts from friends in Dundee watching the Mizzou game and waiting for the Husker game. Many states have their major college team in their largest city that cares about the team the most. StL has a large Illannoy base, and KC has kU.
Take B10 out of that city equation because of the B10 Network. As was brought up on RMN, B12 deserves a better TV contract. Mizzou, Nebraska, kU, Texas, OU would all sell that off very well. Add in the other teams as basically added value. Plus, the B12 schools/region has the best Journalism/Communications schools in the nation, so you’d have announcers that know the area, which would be great. FSN isn’t bad, but come on!

Wrote the following to finish up the first paragraph:
Columbia has the largest pro-Mizzou base as far as per capita. Mizzou is popular in StL, but they would be 3rd or 4th in the city, and probably 2nd or 3rd in KC. Always 1st in Columbia, but Columbia is the 3rd largest city in the state, and is a lot smaller than the first two (StL and KC). Mizzou is just starting to roll in to the PPV sector, but most people that care just go to the game. It’s tough to find a bar that buys the PPV.
