Some big upsets Friday in the first round:
Lipscomb beats #8 national seed Georgia 10-7
Bucknell beats #4 Florida State 7-0
#3 national seed Arizona State nearly lost to Stony Brook (who?),but pulled it out 9-7.
Fresno State beat host Long Beach State 7-3
Host Stanford lost to UC-Davis 2-4.
St. John's beat Texas 2-1 making Texas the only Big 12 first-round loser. Ha!
Oklahoma validated the selection committee's choice, beating the SEC's Vanderbilt 8-5. Ha!
Speaking of Bucknell, Lipscomb and the SEC, Eric Sorenson at CSTV points out that Bison did well yesterday, the SEC shouldn't have this many teams in the tournament, and that teams who didn't start their ace pitchers gambled well.
Big Game Today for the Cornhuskers Against UC Irvine!
Nebraska's Johnny Dorn could be making his last appearance as a Husker, so let's hope that's not the case. Steve Sipple convinces me that Dorn lives for the big game so we should be in good shape. The game is tonight at 7:05 pm.
