It was so close. With 10 seconds left and Texas leading 68-66, Aleks Maric nearly intercepted a long pass, but the ball was swatted away by Justin Mason. Mason was then failed and went on to hit two free throws to seal the game at 70-66.
At one point in the second half, Texas held a 17-point lead. It's a testament to this young team and to Doc Sadler's coaching that they fought back and had the game tied with under a minute left.
Nebraska hit 10 three-pointers, a season high, which should give the Huskers' young guns more confidence as we hit the end of this season and prepare for the next.
Sadler had used up his time-outs with 2:51 left in the game. Despite not being able to stop the clock, the Huskers kept their composure, hitting some huge shots and forcing Texas to make free throws at the end of the game. Unfortunately, the Longhorns came through, going six for six from the line to win the game.
Nebraska has never won in Austin, but given Sadler's coaching and the way he gets his guys to play the game that will change in the next couple years.
