Nebraska vs Arkansas - College Baseball Game Day Thread
March Madness begins tomorrow, but just in case you're paying attention to college baseball... feel free to join us here at Corn Nation, whether you're a Nebraska Cornhusker fan, Big 12 fan, or just a stitch head in general.
We'll probably see Erik Bird get the start today. Don't expect that he'll pitch the whole game regardless of how well he does. I'd like to know how Casey Hauptman or Joe Hatasaki can do against one of the best hitting teams in college baseball.
The Huskers had four double-plays on defense yesterday. To know that he's got a great defense behind him will give any young pitcher more confidence.
In Other Big 12 Action
- Missouri vs South Dakota State
- Oklahoma State vs Arkansas Pine Bluff – double header
- Kansas vs Illinois in Bradenton, FL
- Kansas State at Brigham Young
- Oklahoma at South Florida
The most interesting national match up today (other than Arkansas – Nebraska) is future Cornhusker opponent La-Lafayette at Rice. The Ragin' Cajuns are supposed to have one of the best pitching staffs in the nation, yet find themselves at 6-11 and 1-5 in conference. Maybe if they can find it within themselves to pull something out of this season it can happen today.

Great picture of Dan Jennings after a complete game from Huskers.com. Let's hope to see many more before season's end.

I would think that Erik Bird would be done after this inning.

pitcher
Keuchel in to pitch for Arkansas.....
Nick Sullivan singled, moving Abeita to second.
The crowd is going nuts as Keuchel threw more pitches to get Abeita at first than he did at the batters.
Even more now... the Husker crowd is really getting on this kid.

Sower
hits to the pitcher, who flips it to the catcher and gets the force out.
two outs now, Nebraska needs to capitalize on this, especially with this pitcher in a discombobulated state.
