Husker Hoops Heads for the NIT
Well, Nebraska's basketball season continues as they were named a #3 seed in the NIT. First up is a matchup with #6 seed Charlotte, coached by Bobby Lutz at the Bob Devaney Center. The game is scheduled for Wednesday night at 8 pm central time, and will be televised on ESPN Classic. Tickets will go on sale at huskers.com later tonight.
Other teams in this bracket are: #1 Virginia Tech, #2 Ole Miss, #4 Virginia Commonwealth, #5 Alabama-Birmingham, #7 Cal-Santa Barbara, and #8 Morgan State.
The winner of the NU/Charlotte game will play the winner of Ole Miss/Cal Santa Barbara. The winner of that game will play the survivor of VT/VCU/UAB/MS. Home games are supposed to be awarded to the higher seed, pending availability of the arena. There are four brackets, and the winner of each bracket advances to the NIT Semis at Madison Square Garden.
The selection of Charlotte has a certain humor factor going for it. In 2005, with a Barry Coller coached squad getting beaten badly in Omaha, a Creighton fan had Bobby Lutz paged to the Nebraska bench over the Qwest Center public address system.

Can't believe I forgot
the Bobby Lutz page from the 2005 NU-Creighton fiasco. Thanks for bringing that up.
I think the Charlotte draw, at home, is really good for us. I'll try and post a preview on Tuesday night after I've had a chance to research Charlotte.
Also, good luck to the Women's Basketball team, who ESPN is projecting as an 8 seed. Tomorrow, we'll find out where they're headed.

postseason
play is good. You have some Husker fans who'd reject a trip to a lower-tier bowl game, because they might have the attitude we don't belong there, but those are in the minority as most of us know that we need more practice time.
I'm glad we made the NIT. We're going to need to find a replacement for Maric next season, and that's only going to happen getting the young guys like Balham more experience.
Heck, maybe they could even win it. I don't know, is that a possibility?
