Husker Hoops Game #3: Arkansas Pine-Bluff at Nebraska Open Game Thread

Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions (0-3) at Nebraska Cornhuskers (2-0)

Bob Devaney Sports Center, Lincoln, NE, 1 PM

TV: None

Radio: Husker Sports Network (1110 AM Omaha, 1400 AM Lincoln, Sirius Satellite Radio Channel 91[? - Sirius's schedule shows Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Colorado]), webcast through Huskers.com

Media Previews: Journal-Star, World-Herald, Huskers.com

We come at last to the first true guarantee game of the year.  There's no line on this game, and AccuScore puts the odds of the Huskers winning at 99.5% -- the kind of odds #1 seeds get in the NCAA Tournament.  UAPB is bad -- really bad.  They've been blown out three times this year -- by Colorado, Texas A&M, and Creighton, and are ranked 305th out of 341 teams by Ken Pomeroy's computer (which is, admittedly, inaccurate this early in the season).  Nebraska should win this game easily.

That cushion should give Doc the opportunity to work some kinks out of the offense this afternoon, and hopefully start to find a way to break those second-half cold-streaks before the Creighton and Arizona State games over the next two weekends.  Expect to see a lot of playing time spread across the top 11 players, and most of them to score -- the two themes we can expect to see continue as the season presses on.

As always, join us here live for game discussion as we follow the Huskers, Saturday afternoon football, or whatever else you want to talk about.  And as always, Corn Nation accounts are free, so sign up if you haven't already.

Halftime Stats

Pine Bluff is hitting 52.8% from the floor (11-21), and have already made more buckets than TCU did the entire game Wednesday night.

NU’s hitting a not terrible 11-23 from the floor (47.4 %) but only 2-9 from behind the arc.

Nebraska’s turned 15 UAPB turnovers into 11 points; UAPB has turned 7 NU turnovers into 8 points.

The Huskers are 8-14 from the line after hitting a few down the stretch (it was really atrocious).

Leading Scorers:
NU: Sek Henry 12, Steve Harley 11, five others with 1-3 points
UAPB: Weathers 9, Washington 6

Decent spread of minutes thus far, but Sek and Harley have done most of the scoring.
