Nebraska vs Kansas To Be on Pay Per View

The Nebraska - Kansas game this coming weekend was not picked up as a part of the Big 12's regular telivision package, so we get to shell out some more $$$ for the fourth Husker game on pay per view this season.

The game will start at 1:30 pm Central, and be part of the Fox Sports Network PPV production, so it will probably cost $29.95 and be available much like the three pre-conference games.

hey corn

I was looking at the Big 12 slate this week and thought your game against Kansas was probably one of the better match-ups, yet… it was the ONLY one not picked for TV. Do you think it is a conspiracy for the Big 12 and the TV people to make more money because they know you guys have so many hardcore fans that will shell out the big money for PPV? This is your fourth PPV game this year? It’s been years since CU has had a PPV game. Cause really, if the CU-ISU game was on PPV this week about 5 people would pay for it, but since it’s on Versus they’ll get the normal advertising money.

That's an interesting take...

that I had not considered. But I was definitely a little confused when I heard about that game being televised over this one. Honestly, the only game that will be any more competitive than this one will be Tech/OSU.

yeah

I don’t know if it’s a conspiracy as much as it may be a good business decision by the networks. This is a pivotal game in Nebraska’s season, and unlike the three pre-season minor teams, it’s a game most people will want to watch.

No doubt they made this decision based upon the fact that Nebraskans will pay $29.95 to watch it, the bastards. Hell, they’re going to get more money beyond their contract – it’s not like their motives can ever be considered to be altruistic.

Still…. man – it’s a little old dishing out $$$$ for this stuff. If you look at four PPV games, then the ESPN Game Plan stuff, it’s gotten a lot more expensive to be a college football fan. I guess that’s how it works.

Another one...(%#&*^%$)

Due to this being a very professional, family type site, I am not going to put in print my first though when I read that the NU-KU game was PPV. Being in New Mexico, this will be number 5 for around $160.00 to watch Husker football. I think the first post has it nailed – NU fans will pay for games. I am proud to be a fan, but this is friggin ridiculous.

Agreed we are getting the shaft!!

Can’t believe they would air CU and ISU over NU and KU. But, after reading th posts it does make good business sense for the network. But, personally, I agree they are sticking it to us loyal maybe even obsessed fans. Probably will still buy it and watch it though. Go Huskers!!!!

IT

wont be long before NU fans get tired of paying for games like our first three this year. NU/KU type games will still get bought but the money will stop flowing for the crappy ones. Oh they will get bought by a few but most people will start hitting the bars or having bigger parties so fewer will be buying it. They paid this year because it was Bos first year and we wanted to see what was going to happen. Still weren’t sure after those 3.
