And Colorado goes up on top
of CSU. I'd like to see them win this game even though I picked CSU.
We need the Big 12 North to win every non-conference game possible.
2nd drive - CU scores again
CSU's defense looked awful, either that, or CU is doing well on offense. Cody Hawkins quarterback, nice accuracy, threading the ball between two defenders for the second TD.
Appalachian State
beating Michigan 28-14?
At this point, ASU's qb is 7/7 for 129 yards and 3 TD's. Wow!
we're stalled
CU - CSU at 14-14.
The defenses are finally doing their jobs. .30 seconds left in the first half.
CU
did a nice job on their two-minute offense, especially after the first play when getting the ball was a sack.
CU goes up with a field goal 17-14.
halftime.
It's half time at Ann Arbor, too, where Appalachian State leads Michigan 28-17.
Wow. Just simply wow. It'd be understandable if Michigan were a mediocre team, but they're highly ranked!
Virginia Tech
is struggling.
The right tackle just left ECU's defensive end go free at his quarterback. Turnover, VT only leads this game 10-7.
CSU
goes up, great pass play to the tight end, who drug the CU defender with him into the end zone.
Now CSU does an on-side kick and recovers.
And CSU
goes right down the field and scores.
This doesn't bode well for CU. CSU scores on a run up the middle - about 15 yards - in which it looked like there was no one in the middle of the field for CU.
CSU is in charge
of this game.
Their defense is all over the field. CU isn't doing much. Mighty Mo better get back on the Buff side, otherwise, they're sunk.
now that I say that
CU has driven the field to score.
If their o-line can give Hawkins protection, he's finding his receivers.
CU gets a two-point conversion, pass to the tight end.
28-25 CSU - .34 left in the 3rd quarter.
App State
Michigan is making their way back into the game due to a turnover from App State.
31-26 - into the fourth quarter, App State leading. If they get one more touchdown, Michigan is in real trouble.
CU had picked up momentum, stopping a fourth down play at midfield. Then on the next play, they try a fle-flicker and get it picked off.
Well...
Michigan has gone for it, and not made it with around 7 minutes left. App State still leads 31-26 into the fourth quarter. One more score and they may put this one away.
CSU still leading CU 28-25, CU sporadic on offense. 4:45 left, 4th quarter.
And here we go
With Nebraska - Nevada.
Looks like Michigan is going to pull their game out, which isn't that big a surprise. CU-CSU still a dogfight, but no riots yet.
First delay of game
3rd and 9.
Comes on the first series. I guess they got that one out of the way early.
Octavien
already having an impact. Forcing a punt, now.
Nunn return, block in the back, Nebraska.
We'll start inside the five.
sorry
had to put the computer down for a bit after seeing that Michigan score.
Wow. At least we're not them.
Keller
looks like he's not looking around much.
Holt on a long one, interference.
Holt and Castille already.
well
there you go.
Nice drive, 94 yards, 12 plays. Lucky with the reception and no one on him.
Cool!
What dumb ass
puts a huge Best Buy ad right over a reply when they're trying to describe it?
good thing he dropped that...
so far no pressure and not very good coverage. I thought the d would be better then what they have been showing. and Now Steve O. gets in there and the reciever has a d back all over him.
shit!
Nunn drop, Hardy fumble.
First game jitters, or what?
He looked like he never really had that ball. Yeah, they'll review that, it's not a completion.
Steinkuhler
out....
That sucks. That's one area we don't want to lose anyone. Hope it's not serious.
First quarter done.
Trivia
last unranked team to beat Nebraska - I'll say Florida State in 1980, 1982.
I think 1980
Sorry had to leave...
and go work at the golf course for a little bit. Now back. Iowa State in like '92. Tommie Fraziers freshmen year.
in home opener, though.
that's what the triva on TV was. Forgot that part. Given we've won 21 in a row, it's a while ago.
offense
is moving the ball well.
We're hitting the guys wide open.
two Nevada guys hit each other... dropped pass.
line
is blowing holes in nevada's defensive line now.
score on this drive. punch it in.
pound the rock.
Washington State
1977, last unranked home opener loss.
maybe that says something about the level of competition?
Callahan
has learned you don't try a field goal on the one foot line!
yay!
We score. This Castille kid looks good!
wow
Castille has impressed me so far but he is about the only one. Why wont BC run a qb sneak? he hasn't ran one since he got here.
Special teams
already look more special than last year.
Kunalic looks great. two touchbacks now!
Half
Keller hasn't looked very sharp in his first half at a Husker.
The offense has looked pretty decent, though, the defense fairly good.
Special teams look much more special than last season.
A little rough, but a good first half.
I have been...
sitting with a Michigan fan for a little while now and giving him more crap then he can handle. God its fun
those poor bastards
I wouldn't want to go to work on Monday.
Hahahahaah ahahah ahahaaaahhaaa ahaaah
underachieving again, Michigan.
Who's he going to cheer for now? Michigan State?
No love
from Doug Flutie - we don't look like a good football team now, we'll have trouble beating out missouri.
mizzou is ahead 23-6 over Illinois at the half.
Georgia Tech beating up on Notre Dame. Ha!
and then he comes back
with ND - "that's not a Charlie Weis offense'. Bah
I can't stand Weis.
have I said that yet?
yeah
and the bad thing is that he didn't have to hold him because Lucky would have been by him anyway and now he goes in for a TD with a great block from peterson. He needs to show swift how to do it.
Lucky
looks very very good today.
Maybe it's time for him. That'd be great.
141 yards now. Three TD's.
How much longer do you think he'll play.
They need to do an ESPN commercial with Lil' Red.
I haven't been...
overly impressed with Lucky but he is doing well. I still don't think he is living up to the hype he came in with but oh well as long as he does well. Not looking heisman like but looking good.
well
what the hell you want him to do? 141 yards, three quarters, with a 60-some yard run called back?
He's hitting the holes most fo the time, catching the ball.
Lucky is about to get another TD.
whoee
fullback!
or H-back.
whatever.
play-action now. we can pound them in this game.
there you go!
wow..
Lucky with 141 yards rushing and its still in the third. Hope we see some backups in the 4th. Yeah I know its not out of reach but lets get some guys ( Ganz for one) some playing time when it matters so they will be ready.
intercepted
by a big defensive lineman!
Dixon! whooeee.
okay, this is a butt-kicking.
swap in offensive line rotation.
let's see Roy Helu in the backfield.
i haven't
heard anything.
We haven't seen him again, either, though.
Hopefully not too bad.
Who is Jordan Congdon?
Who?
Who the hell cares?
Kunalic - huge asset. have I said that already? Have I?
Whoeee!
How many games did that cost us last year? Oh, they're discussing it now.
Dang
Your kicker is good. That's huge to have a consistent touchback from the 30-yard-line on kickoffs.
Other than that, what do you think? Looks like Callahan is staying fairly conservative, and Marlon Lucky has had a nice day, but Sam Keller's numbers are pretty ordinary right now. No matter what, better opening day than Michigan!
right now
Keller looks rough.
Bad thing is, if we keep him in and start throwing the ball, we'll look like jerks.
But he does look a little rusty.
Even though Lucky looks good, I think the kicker is the player of the game. Not having a good one cost us at least a couple games last season.
I don't think Callahan is being conservative. I think he knows that in order to win the Big 12 you have to run. Those November games can be pretty nasty.
Lucky Lucky Lucky
yeah. man.
Oeee.
Now get him out of the game.
Nice to see Joba's dad. What a great story.
We are kicking ass.
Well...
I think it is time to see Ganz and Mendoza. We dont need Lucky, Keller, or Castille hurt so lets bench them. Well maybe let Castille play a little more but lets see some other guys.
you have to ask yerself
whether or not Cody Glenn is doing that well.
that's probably the question of the week.
Major Culbert
Whoeee!
Wow. That's great to see.
Henery looks like he's about 15 years old, doesn't he?
you on bonus coverage?
My brother in Dallas just called and says they've cut away to the Boston College - Wake Forest game.
Classy my ass...
we should have scored. Let the young man run it in and make his day. Might be the only chance he gets to score a TD in his career. That would be a shame if he never got another chance.
oh geez
you know, they made the point.
Besides, ol' Tom would have took a knee then. Bill Callahan is learning from him.
