Big 12 Weekly Awards
Blake Stouffer, Texas A&M - Player of the Week
Wade Mackey, Baylor - Pitcher of the Week It was Stouffer's third award this season and his second in a row.

Big news of the week was Missouri's series win over Texas! It was the first series loss for Texas on the season.

Baylor 1-0 Tue., May 1 Baylor 3, TCU 0

Baylor pulls off a nice win against ranked TCU (RPI: 39). Baylor's Wade Mackey tossed a complete game shutout that earned him Big 12 Pitcher of the week honors Baylor stands at 38, not a shabby RPI for a team that's near the bottom of the Big 12.

Baylor plays Texas Southern (RPI:280) mid-week, then travels to Lincoln for a conference series against the Huskers.

Kansas 0-2 Fri., May 4 Kansas State 2, Kansas 1
Sat., May 5 Kansas State 7, Kansas 4

The final game of the series was cancelled due to weather. Kansas drops to the bottom of the Big 12, with their RPI at 117.

Kansas gets Missouri State (RPI:116) at home, then plays a series against Chicago State (RPI:288) next weekend.

Kansas State 4-0 Tue., May 1 Kansas State 20, Chicago State 4
Wed., May 2 Kansas State 10, Chicago State 0
Fri., May 4 Kansas State 2, Kansas 1
Sat., May 5 Kansas State 7, Kansas 4

Kansas State beats up on 289th-ranked (RPI) Chicago STate, then takes two games from Kansas. Their RPI stands at 32.

Kansas State hosts the Texas A&M Aggies next weekend in Big 12 conference play.

Missouri 2-1 Fri., May 4 Missouri 7, Texas 6 ( 11 )
Sat., May 5 Texas 5, Missouri 1
Sun., May 6 Missouri 5, Texas 4

Missouri hands Texas their first series loss of the season. Their Friday night win gave Missouri four wins in a row over Texas. Mizzou has now won nine out of ten 10 series this season, impressive in the tough Big 12.

Missouri's RPI's rose since last week's 23 to this week's 21.

Missouri hosts Oklahoma next weekend.

Nebraska 0-2 Fri., May 4 Coastal Carolina 8, Nebraska 3
Sat., May 5 Coastal Carolina 5, Nebraska 4

A bad weekend for the Huskers. CCU comes in ranked, high RPI, and takes two games on the road. The third game was cancelled due to thunderstorms. I guess I'm not as disgusted as some - maybe the expectations were too high for this team at the beginning of the year. Or maybe this Husker team doesn't have the fire required to get far. Pre-season All-American Ryan Wehrle was dismissed from the team - who knows what affect that will have. I guess we'll find out next weekend.
Nebraska's RPI dropped four to 24. With a 24 RPI, I wouldn't worry too much about us missing the post-season. We do need a series win against Baylor, otherwise the team can consider itself in free-fall mode for the second straight year and we may end up going home early. We are currently fifth in the Big 12, right behind Texas A&M. If the Huskers can take the Baylor series, we'll be above .500.

Nebraska hosts Baylor next weekend in Big 12 play.

Oklahoma 0-3 Fri., May 4 Oklahoma State 8, Oklahoma 7
Sat., May 5 Oklahoma State 10, Oklahoma 2
Sun., May 6 Oklahoma State 8, Oklahoma 7

Speaking of a team in free-fall mode - Oklahoma gets swept by the Cowboys? There are plenty of excuses to go around, but Oklahoma has dropped to seventh in the Big 12 now. Oklahoma's RPI dropped from 28 to 34 after the series.

Oklahoma goes to Mizzou next weekend for a series against the Tigers, so it doesn't get any easier.

Oklahoma State 3-0 Fri., May 4 Oklahoma State 8, Oklahoma 7
Sat., May 5 Oklahoma State 10, Oklahoma 2
Sun., May 6 Oklahoma State 8, Oklahoma 7

Oklahoma State's RPI went to 49 from 60 last week after getting swept by Texas. Their sweep of Oklahoma puts them at third in the Big 12.

Oklahoma State travels to Lubbock next weekend for a series against Texas Tech.

Texas 1-2 Fri., May 4 Missouri 7, Texas 6 ( 11 )
Sat., May 5 Texas 5, Missouri 1
Sun., May 6 Missouri 5, Texas 4

Biggest news of the week is that Texas finally loses a Big 12 series. Texas is still looking good for a national seed, though. They'll still win the Big 12. Kyle Russell hit two more home runs and still leads the nation with 26 on the season.

Texas has a game against Arkansas Pine Bluff (RPI:270) on the 12th, then finishes the season the following weekend against Texas A&M.

Texas A&M 3-0 Thu., May 3 Texas A&M 11, Dallas Baptist 10
Fri., May 4 Texas A&M 3, Dallas Baptist 0
Sat., May 5 Texas A&M 14, Dallas Baptist 6

Texas A&M sweeps Dallas Baptist (RPI:112), but sees their RPI drop to ninth (Boyd Nation). Blake Stouffer received his second consecutive Big 12 award. Shouldn't you get these for playing someone in conference?

Texas A&M travels to Manhattan next weekend for a series against the Wildcats.

Texas Tech 1-0 Tue., May 1 Texas Tech 15, Dallas Baptist 6

Kansas does the Red Raiders a favor and loses more games so that now the Jayhawks are in the cellar.

Texas Tech hosts Oklahoma State next weekend.
