Big 12 Player of the Week: Jeff Tezak, Nebraska, 3B. Tezak hit a whopping .727 (8 for 11) over the weekend with a home run, two doubles, and three RBI. He had six consecutive hits on Saturday as Nebraska beat Alabama 4-3. Given that this happened on the road against a ranked team is pretty darned impressive.

Big 12 Pitcher of the Week: Colt Hynes, Texas Tech, LHP. Hynes pitched a complete game against ranked TCU on Sunday, allowing one run in the Red Raiders 4-1 win. He had eleven strike-outs with no walks.

Sat., Mar. 10 Mississippi State 8, Baylor 6

Baylor knocked off ranked San Francisco on Friday, then lost to Mississippi State on Saturday in the Quala-T Imprints Baylor Classic in Waco, Texas over the weekend. The final game of the tournament against Winthrop was suspended due to weather and will be completed on Tuesday.

The Bears play another game against Winthrop mid-week, then begin Big 12 conference play at home next weekend against Texas.

Fri., Mar. 9 Arkansas 8, Kansas 7

Kansas beat up on Tabor and walloped Baker, then were swept by #10 Arkansas on the road over the weekend.

Kansas will host Penn State and highly ranked Wichita State mid-week, then open Big 12 play on the road against Texas A&M this weekend.

Kansas State brings their record to 14-2 beating up on the likes of truly Northern team NDSU, dropping their record to 2-5.

Kansas State will face a tough road test when they play highly ranked Arizona State Tuesday/Wednesday. They play Central Michigan at home next weekend.

Wed., Mar. 7 Missouri 5, ULM 4
Sat., Mar. 10 Missouri 14, Texas State 4
Sat., Mar. 10 Missouri 11, Dallas Baptist 7

Mizzou scored 25 runs on Saturday, beating Texas State and Dallas Baptistto extend their winning streak to seven games.

Missouri will face Saint Louis and Western Illinois mid-week. They'll play a series against Cleveland State at home next weekend before opening Big 12 play at Lincoln against the Huskers the following week.

Sun., Mar. 11 Nebraska 6, Alabama 5

Nebraska played a pretty bad game on Friday, getting shut out on the road for the first time since 1998. They then showed remarkable poise and bounced back to win the series against the Tide.

The Huskers will finally get a home game this week against Wayne State before opening Big 12 play at Texas Tech next weekend. The Big 12 opening game between Nebraska and Texas Tech on Thursday will be televised nationally on Fox Sports at 6:30 pm.

Fri., Mar. 9 Oklahoma 4, San Diego State 1

Sun., Mar. 11 Michigan 8, Oklahoma 5

Oklahoma won a series against the rich kids from Omaha mid-week. They then won two in the Aztec Invitational before losing to Michigan to break their 11-game winning streak.

Oklahoma will play Texas Pan American mid-week and then play a home series against Michigan State next weekend.

Fri., Mar. 9 Oklahoma State 7, Pepperdine 6 Sat., Mar. 10 Pepperdine 7, Oklahoma State 3

Oklahoma State's offense exploded against UT-Arlington mid-week. They then split with Pepperdine while the rubber game on Sunday was cancelled due to rain.

The Cowboys will play a mid-week series against Western Illinois, and then stay at home for a series against Hartford next weekend.

Texas 3-1 Tue., Mar. 6 Texas 10, Texas A&M Corpus Christi 6
Fri., Mar. 9 Miami (Ohio) 6, Texas 2
Sat., Mar. 10 Texas 10, Miami (Ohio) 0
Sun., Mar. 11 Texas 10, Miami (Ohio) 4

Texas won it's series at home against Miami of Ohio, losing on Friday, then bouncing back for wins on Saturday and Sunday.

Texas will play Winthrop at home mid-week, then begin Big 12 play against Baylor next weekend. With their series win over Miami, Texas moved back into the Baseball America Top Ten.

Texas A&M 3-0 Fri., Mar. 9 Texas A&M 7, Florida 1
Sat., Mar. 10 Texas A&M 13, Florida 5
Sun., Mar. 11 Texas A&M 6, Florida 1

The Aggies swept SEC opponent Florida at home, moving their record to an impressive 18-2, while Florida dropped to 9-10 on the season. (What the heck has happened to Florida?)

Texas A&M will open Big 12 play at home against Kansas next weekend.

Wed., Mar. 7 UNLV 5, Texas Tech 4
Fri., Mar. 9 Texas Tech 9, Texas A&M Corpus Christi 4
Sat., Mar. 10 Rice 5, Texas Tech 1
Sun., Mar. 11 Texas Tech 4, TCU 1

Texas Tech swept a two-game home series against UNLV mid-week. They then lost to eighth-ranked Rice on Saturday and bounced back to get their first win against a ranked opponent, beating TCU on Sunday in the 2007 Whataburger College Classic tournament. Texas Tech was to play another game against TCU this week, but it was cancelled due to poor field conditions.

The Red Raiders will open Big 12 play at home against Nebraska this coming weekend. The first game will be televised nationally on Fox Sports.
