Ted Gilmore the lastest to leave

Ted Gilmore, the Huskers wide receivers coach for the past two seasons, is going to take a job with the Raiders. Lane Kiffin wants him aboard, and while it's not yet official, it's going to be soon.

This is the third Nebraska assistant to leave this offseason, following John Blake and Jay Norvell. Whatever happened to the good old days, when all of the NU assistants had been here for a matter of decades?

we hired a pro staff.

maybe long time poster taflorom is right, we needed to hire Nebraska coaches who'd stick around for a while.

or maybe this is the face of college football and we should just get used to it.

which is right? I'm not sure. I'd like to think that taflorom is right - hiring a 'Nebraska' guy and hoping he wins. OTOT, BC is showing a good amount of  improvement.

What all y'all think?

and in a shocking twist
Gilmore turned down Kiffin after almost certainly agreeing to the job. He had a change of heart and decided to stay. From the Journal-Star's Steve Sipple:
"Besides us having unfinished business here at Nebraska, I just couldn't get on that plane," Gilmore said late Sunday afternoon.

Gilmore, who just completed his second season as Nebraska wide receivers coach, had informed his Husker wideouts Saturday that he was headed to Oakland.

He changed his mind Sunday afternoon, and was in the process of trying to reach Kiffin.

"It's a combination of everything," Gilmore said. "I prayed about it. Although it's a wonderful opportunity (in Oakland), it's just not the right opportunity at this point in my life. All I can do is go on my gut feeling.

"I came to Nebraska to win a championship, and haven't done that at this point."

I'm impressed.
