- Under the Hood Statistical Comparison Between the Teams - done by BON this week.
- This morning on ESPN's College GameDay - Kirk Herbstreit gave Nebraska a 0% chance of winning this game. Lee Corso moved it to 1%. I'd have to concur with Corso.
- Which leads me to ask Husker fans - are you going to watch this game anyway? Or are you planning on doing something else? I'll still be watching.
Please use this thread to discuss the Nebraska - Texas game and any other games you might be watching today.

Rutgers
I picked Rutgers, but it doesn't look like they can sustain their offense well enough to beat WVU.
Colorado ahead early 14-3, over Tech.
disappointing
Rutgers has sucked today.
The University of Illinois commercial is really dull.
I was hoping that Ball State would beat Illinois today, just because misery loves company, but that isn't happening.
I need to go get some beer.
all right
I'm already irritated with the announcing.....
portraying Callahan as if the fans are attacking him undeservedly.
Specifically, that he's handled it as well as he possibly can. I think he's handling it about as well as my eight year old son would if he were being attacked by the entire planet.
Buttheads.
Nice
set of rushes on the first series, just couldn't maintain it.
Nice stop by defense on the first Texas series. Showed a little fire.
Texas
fans already aren't happy.
They're as dysfunctional as we are.
lookie here:

I like
the aggressiveness of the defense.
blitzing the heck out of McCoy. he's making some plays, though, that's okay.
I'd rather we fought all the way through it. If we're going to be a bad defense, then let it be, but not because we haven't made someone else work for it.
Yeah
maybe we should have been trying some of this all year long. What a joke. Wait until the seasons lost until you try something different. Something that might actually work.
it's not lost
completely.
we can still get a bowl.
for the players, I'd like to see them get to a bowl.

McCoy
isn't handling the pressure well anyway.
So we force Texas to a FG attempt.
so far, so good for the defense.
which they make.
he's probably
been told to run forward instead of dance.
seriously, can the guy win? If he dances, he gets killed. If he runs forward, he gets killed.
Texas has a good dfensive line.
we're not going to beat them by running only

i'm not so sure
that replacing Lydon Murtha isn't going to be a great thing for this line.
Murtha hasn't ever come close to living up to his size or potential.
Keller
can't make a decision to save his life.
Throw the damned ball already.
he waits soooo long.
I just
figured out why we are running so much more then passing. I read somewhere that UT has a good run defense but not so much against the pass. BC always designs his playbook for a game to do what ever the defense does best.
they
had that last three years about TO wrong.
he was 60-3, not 60-5.
97, 96, 95.
He lost to who during those years?
by Jon Johnston on Oct 27, 2007 3:34 PM CDT up reply actions
our
defense hasn't played too bad in this game.
they've had a sack, haven't given up much, have made some stops.
damned offense needs to be offensive.
shit
we got screwed.
these refs are morons.
so now Texas gets a free shitty play on frist down.
we
are sticking everyone in the box and playing all out this game and we couldn't f@ing do this against A&M?
Hey now...
that would have made sense. Have you ever seen this coaching staff do anything that makes sense?
The
announcer just said he didn't think KC should change anything as we are making Texas earn everything. Well I haven't seen us change anything from the start of a game until the next game starts so I dont think that will be a problem. We will run this defense the whole game no matter what.
hahahahah
true. good point
boy, both these teams look like they're on downers.

something happened
there.
with .50 seconds.
Lucky around the right side, great call.
Now, get the ball to PURIFY! Peterson!
i don't know
maybe the whole Husker team hates Texas.

Swift!
Ooeee!
that was swift, wasn't it?
Man, how'd you like be Texas right now. We suck.
and they're sucking more than we are. That has to hurt a lot.
hahahahahahahahaahahaha

We may be the inhabitants...
...of Sucktown, but TX is the mayor, woohooo!

hope
is there hope for this team?
Oh hell. Here I go.
Texas looks more lost than we do. That's okay with me. If we could just beat Texas I'd be very very happy because it would make up for their volleyball team kicking our volleyballer's ass this week.
I don't want us to lose the rest of our games. I want us to go to a bowl. I want the energy and the psyche of this team intact.
Hope, man. hope.
10-7 at half!!!
We've got a shot: please god give us a few breaks in the 2nd half. The D is stacking the box, bringing some heat; I see some hittin' going on! Nate Swift, oh yeah.
It almost hurts to have not seen this the last few months...
by Ze Robertinho on Oct 27, 2007 4:25 PM CDT up reply actions
it's
okay.
your giddiness can be forgiven.
by Jon Johnston on Oct 27, 2007 4:30 PM CDT up reply actions
Please God,
I'll be a good and respectful blogger from here on--just let us win!
p.s. formerly #2 USF getting rocked!!!
by Ze Robertinho on Oct 27, 2007 4:32 PM CDT up reply actions
Don't
get ahead of yourself! If Cosgrove can bring himself to make a single adjustment--any adjustment--we have a chance. Mack is good enough to find some holes, but hopefully Callagrove can do some, uh, coaching.

We cling to a shread of hope
and TX's WVB team did look powerful. Beat TX, beat TX, beat TX!!! Thank god Colt ist one of those mobile guys and they're not doing that spread crap...woohooo!

new thread at BON
for anyone following over there.
http://www.burntorangenation.com/sto...
BTW, Peter Bean runs most of BON. I have a lot of respect for him. Notice that beginning his second-half thread he warns someone about blasting individual players and being banned for it.
That's classy. we can talk about football without resorting to name calling of college players.
Man, this is a game we can win. If we can hold on, it'd be sweet, man.
and then
we shoot ourseles in the foot.
shit.
stop throwing out patterns, otherwise Keller gets picked off and a return.
Hardy, Swift!
Boom, boom, yeah baby!!!
by Ze Robertinho on Oct 27, 2007 4:45 PM CDT reply actions
we're
playing inspired football.
it'd have been nice if Purify would have caught that last one.
nice shot
of Joba Chamberlain on the sideline.
Notice they didn't interview him.
FG - Texas.
joba gets
interviewed.
it's just cool that we have something to counter Roger Clemens.
I like that.
by Jon Johnston on Oct 27, 2007 5:14 PM CDT up reply actions
okay
4th quarter.
dammit.
areergghgh.
this game is on the offense. the defense so far has played well enough to win this game.
we have to keep scoring.
momentum
shifting.
could Sam Keller look off a receiver ever?
Texas at the 26.
we needed to keep the ball and score on that drive. they are coming back.
McCoy
hurt?
Chiles coming in. he's more dangerous than McCoy. If we can't adjust, we'll lose right away.
Cosgrove
against the spread.
He can't handle it. He just can't.
Nerbaska's defenders have never been properly taught how to defend the spread.
and
there they go.
the spread. which is why Kevin Cosgrove has to be replaced.
There are so many spread offenses out there now that we cannot defend.
Cosgrove is outdated.
As Tom Peters said years ago in "Thriving on Chaos":
"If you can't figure out how to obsolete yourself, someone else will"
we
have to score.
we have to.
we know the defense is bad, dammit.
and if the offense can't damn score, then we're through. and it's obvious that Bill Callahan is calling the plays again, because he can't help himself.
he sucks.
does
it get more obvious that at the end of the game Callahn is caling the plays?
our offense just fades.
what'd we run after that interception.
- middle left, bad blocking
- zone stretch right, heavy formation (as if they didn't know what's coming with a loaded right side)
- zero'ed in long fly route - off the mark
we needed a touchdown. a field goal. needed something.
DAMN
ah
Kevin Cosgrove.
the spread offense. can't figure it out.
it's why our offense had to keep scoring.
bastards.
Well, the option,
99 yard 'drive', they shoulda been running the option the whole game 'cause we can't stop it!
Maybe it's our turn to get lucky and pull out the 'W'....

Sam Keller
this is a house of cards.
Steve Pederson built his house on Bill Callahan who built his house on Sam Keller.
dumbasses.
28-17 game over,
Oh well, they played pretty good, way beyond my expectations, but I'm sick of this sh&^%t...
by Ze Robertinho on Oct 27, 2007 6:10 PM CDT reply actions
i love
Ron Franklin.
what a complete suckass. we haven't scored in the second half. we haven't moved the ball in the second half.
keller's hurt.
ya think
this whole season has been Keller's NFL audition.
it Ganz plays, can it be worse than it is already?
by Jon Johnston on Oct 27, 2007 6:25 PM CDT up reply actions
You know,
That's a really fucked up thing to say after the effort that Keller gave and the fact that he was injured. That's just bullshit...
by Ze Robertinho on Oct 27, 2007 6:45 PM CDT up reply actions
okay
you're probably right. it's not fair to Keller.
it looks like a shoulder separation.
OTOH, what the hell else would it have taken to get Ganz in there?
by Jon Johnston on Oct 27, 2007 6:48 PM CDT up reply actions
Well, they gave a helluva effort...
They had their chances to put the game away a few times in the 2nd half, but just didn't get it done.
Great job Keller, Swift, Lucky, Ganz, MO, and the defense in general.
Good for us UT didn't run more of that read option or the outcome could have been closer to my prediction.
I feel bad for Calli and the team, and the Blackshirts played more like their name, at least for 3 qtrs. I give credit to Coz, but again, UT's O is by and large pretty vanilla.
We should all realize that our team is overall fairly young, but we should have gotten this one.
I don't even want to read any of the negative stuff.
Go Big Red, my hat's off to you....
by Ze Robertinho on Oct 27, 2007 6:43 PM CDT reply actions
man
i suppose.
just got bagged on by my 12 year old daughter for being too negative.
it was our game for the taking. it was.
