More Tragedy For Maurice Purify

Husker Extra is reporting that Maurice Purify's girlfriend, Reia Shapiro, was killed in a car accident in Pasadena over the past weekend. She was 20 years old.

Purify has had his share of pain this season, first with two off-field self-inflicted legal incidents, then the murder of his brother Ronald Spears at the age of 29.

Keep Purify and the family of Ms. Shapiro in your prayers this week along with the hope that we've seen enough stories like this for the season.  Whether Purify plays against Missouri is immaterial. You have to respect a guy that pulled himself out of trouble and has played at the level despite the things that life has thrown at him recently. Someone once told me that God will never give you more than you can handle, but for Maurice Purify I pray that enough is enough.
